In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness and the upcoming World Mental Health Day, Peers Envisioning and Engaging in Recovery Services (PEERS) is pleased to announce that we received a grant from the Hope & Grace Fund, a project of New Venture Fund in partnership with the global women’s skincare brand Philosophy, Inc.

PEERS will utilize the funds to support the “Our Voices” program, which will provide opportunities for woman to become trained to facilitate Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) groups. WRAP is an evidence-based practice that operates under the belief that key recovery concepts of hope, education, personal responsibility, support and self-advocacy can assist individuals with mental health experiences and allow them to attain the highest possible level of wellness. Our aim is to create peer-led spaces for up to 16 women to create personal wellness plans and to train them to facilitate wellness groups that are inclusive of the unique challenges faced by girls and women in our community.

“PEERS has provided WRAP services to the community since its inception in 2001 and over the years has certified many consumers, providers, youth, and other members of the community. We are excited to build upon and extend our stigma and discrimination reduction initiatives to a community of women who will be empowered to duplicate these efforts in organizations and community settings.”

The hope & grace initiative represents an unprecedented commitment by Philosophy, the wellbeing beauty brand, to support wellness and mental health. Mental health issues are just one of many challenges women face. Through the hope & grace, philosophy becomes the first company to intentionally focus on this important cause and the first major beauty company to make a brand-wide commitment to dedicate 1% of its USA net sales toward the cause. Philosophy seeks to empower the mental health and wellness movement by providing opportunities to globally raise awareness of the issues, learn about and support effective organizations and provide resources to bring renewed hope to the lives our community.
