Latino/a/x Action Team Meeting and Birthday Celebration
Today PEERS’ Latino/a/x Action Team met to edit their upcoming outreach flyer, discuss the meaning of the word “stigma” in Spanish, and celebrate the birthday of one of the team-members. Program Coordinator Basilia Padilla also presented new “Querer Mas, Juzgar Menos” t-shirts to the team. The LAAT’s next meeting will be on September 6th.

Two PEERS Staff Members Win Awards at POCC Annual Conference
Yesterday at the POCC’s 6th Annual Awards and Conference Program at the Oakland Hilton, two PEERS staff members won awards. Program Coordinator Basilia Padilla won the Peer Specialist of the Year Award for her work on the Everyone Counts Campaign’s Latino/a/x community focus. Latino/a/x Action Team Meeting on May 3rd
On Wednesday May 3rd, PEERS’ Latino/a/x Action Team met to develop and refine outreach efforts, share stories of recovery, and plan for the upcoming 10×10 We Move for Health event on May 19th. This meeting also focused on generating culturally-relevant content for a Latino/a/x anti-stigma curriculum.

PEERS Remembers Latino Suicide Victims with Dia De Los Muertos Altar
On Sunday, October 30th, Fruitvale Village was filled with marigold flowers, traditional dancing, sugar skull face paintings, and good cheer as East Oakland supporters and residents attended the 21st Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival.
