
OAKLAND, CALIF — Peers Envisioning and Engaging in Recovery Services (PEERS) is proud to present Blooming Hope: Nurturing the Seeds of Peace, Love, and Forgiveness, a free, family-friendly event on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center in East Oakland.
Held in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Blooming Hope invites the community to come together for an uplifting afternoon focused on healing, connection, and holistic wellness.
The day will begin with opening remarks by Jennifer Vanaman, Executive Director of PEERS, followed by a slate of interactive activities and workshops, including:
- A planting activity hosted by SNE Cares
- A poetry workshop led by Deyci Carrillo López
- A community gratitude activity by the Latine Community Wellness Program
- Bird feeder building with PEARLS
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local organizations such as the Oakland Public Library, Dream Youth Clinic, and La Clínica, among others, to explore available resources and support services.
Mandela Produce will be distributing fresh fruits and vegetables, while local barber Friscofaded (@friscofaded) and hairstylist Styled by Carmen (@styledbycarmenmarquez) will offer free haircuts on site. Guests can also enjoy complimentary food, including pupusas, veggie bowls, and raspados. Lastly, attendees will have a chance to win prizes in raffles throughout the day.
